Rs 393 crore contract to build five Metro-2B stations scrapped

The five Metro stations between Chembur and Mandale for which the contract was scrapped included Diamond Garden Metro station, Shivaji Chowk Metro station, BSNL Metro station followed by Mankhurd and Mandale Metro station. In a major setback that will delay construction of the DN Nagar-Mandale Metro-2B corridor, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has scrapped a contract of Rs 393 crore for construction of five elevated Metro stations. The construction of Metro-2B has courted controversy after residents from Bandra, Khar and Juhu challenged the construction of Metro-2B on the ground instead of underground. The MMRDA has now refloated bids for appointing contractors for the five Metro stations.
