Security beefed up for Ganpati visarjan in Mumbai

Security measures have been beefed up across the city ahead of Ganpati visarjan on Sunday, as the Mumbai Police strives to ensure there are no disruptions caused by anti-social elements. About 2,200 traffic personnel and over 1,500 traffic wardens have been deployed in different parts of the city. Over 5,000 personnel have been deployed at 162 major immersion spots, of which nearly 550 personnel will be deployed for the Lalbaugcha Raja itself. Mumbai's traffic division has set up control rooms at six major immersion spots: Girgaum Chowpatty, Juhu Chowpatty, Shivaji Park, Ganesh Ghat, Powai and Badi Masjid in Bandra.
