70% Ola, Uber cabs off roads in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Nearly 70% of Ola and Uber cabs remaianed off roads on Sunday morning, with those plying in some areas available for surge price as high as two times the normal fares.Union leader Govind Mohite said, "Majority of driver partners have gone offline voluntarily. The last time, the drivers partners were off roads from October 22 to November 2 and the strike was called off after state transport minister Diwakar Raote had intervened. "This time, we want state chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to intervene and listen to the drivers' grievances," said Ahir. We are gearing up for the huge morcha on the first day of state legislative session on Monday." He further stated: "Thousands of families have been badly hit as most drivers are leading a hand-to-mouth existence and many are unable repay the loan EMIs.".
