Bombay HC asks BEST union to withdraw strike

MUMBAI: Bombay high court on Tuesday told BEST workers union to take a decision on withdrawing their strike by this evening.A bench of Chief Justice Naresh Patil and Justice Nitin Jamdar 's oral direction came after the BEST management agreed to implement an interim measure of a high power committee related to their salary structure from Febuary 2019. The court heard a public interest litigation by advocate Datta Mane seeking direction to the unions to call off the strike immediately.The committee's recommendations included forthwith withdrawal of the strike, a ten step increment in salary in a time bound manner and which will be subsumed in the next agreement, BEST to take steps for modernisation, no retrenchment and to start negotiations for a new agreement..
