Sanjay Nirupam alleges registration of bogus voters in Greater Mumbai

In all, there are 36 Assembly and six Lok Sabha constituencies and the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) claimed that the bogus voter mafia was involved in making the bogus voter IDs. The city Congress unit on Wednesday alleged that about 20,000 bogus voters were registered in every Assembly constituency while another 1.50 lakh in every Parliamentary segments in Greater Mumbai. Nirupam pointed out that no specific house or slum numbers were mentioned on the voter IDs further raising questions on the candour of the process. ''Out of the 638 voter IDs he got from the Magathane constituency, only 182 were genuine voter IDs and out of the 552 voter IDs that he got from the Dindoshi constituency, only 290 were genuine,'' he informed. MRCC president Sanjay Nirupam told reporters that there were around eight to nine lakh bogus voters registered ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha (LS) elections and suspected that it was possible due to the connivance of employees from the district collectors..
