BMC may quit Swachh survey over ‘garbage cess’

MUMBAI: After ranking as the ‘Cleanest State Capital’ in Swachh Survekshan 2018, BMC’s participation in this year’s national cleanliness survey is in jeopardy. “In view of the above, if user charges/taxation is considered for ranking, the Swachh Survekshan ranking will be based merely on user charges rather than cleanliness. “The corporation has to provide SWM (solid waste management) services to all classes of citizens.
