OVER THREE years after the murder of contemporary artist Hema Upadhyay and subsequent arrest of her estranged husband Chintan — another internationally renowned artist — hit headlines, their paintings were a part of an auction in Mumbai Thursday. AdvertisingThe auction conducted by Saffronart, as part of its spring online auction, featured a collection of 89 works by India’s foremost modern and contemporary artists. In the auction that opened on Wednesday and closed on Thursday, Hema’s painting, procured by Saffronart in February 2015, was sold at Rs 7.20 lakh but Chintan’s remained unsold.
