BMC removes structures to demolish Delisle Bridge

After negotiating for four months, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished 172 structures under the dilapidated Delisle Bridge on Friday night. The Delisle Bridge was shut for public use after it was declared unsafe by Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, on July 24, 2018. The G south ward, on February 2, razed 17 structures on the eastern side of the bridge. “It was necessary to evacuate all these stalls/structures for the demolition of the Delisle ROB. On Friday, in consultation with Market Department, Estate Department, Bridge Department, and the Western Railway the stalls were evacuated and demolished,” P Jain, ward officer of G south, said..
