Vegetable prices continue to soar in Mumbai's retail outlets

Traders at the wholesale market said small vehicles laden with vegetables are arriving at the market. "In the last fortnight, the APMC saw majority of small vehicle coming with vegetables," said Shankar Pingle, director of APMC vegetable market. Normally, the Mumbai APMC in Vashi receives more than 500 trucks and 100 small vehicles laden with vegetables on daily basis. Green chili is available at Rs120 per kg in the retail market while tomato is being sold at Rs 60 to Rs 80per kg. Price of drum stick has reached Rs 80 per kg and peas is being sold at Rs 120 per kg..
