OPINION: Cops must know animal laws

Mumbai | Friday | 23rd August, 2019

Summary:

In most cases, the police department lacks knowledge about animal protection laws. They need to be sensitised and informed that dogs are living creatures with rights. As per law, the accused can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. While many police officers are sensitive, others don’t take such cases seriously and release the accused just after a warning. —Meet Ashar, emergency response coordinator, PeTA India.
