CM Uddhav Thackery to announce lockdown guidelines by evening, says Aslam Shaikh

The State government is likely to impose a complete lockdown in the state amid a sharp spike in the covid cases.

The big announcement is likely to be made this evening or tomorrow, Mumbai’s Guardian Minister Aslam Sheikh told reporters.

He asserted the situation in Maharashtra is so dreadful that lockdown is a must to break the chain.

The is expected that a longer lockdown will be imposed for up to 15 days starting from April 15.

He mentioned that the planning for lockdown is underway and the state authorities will give residents sufficient time.

The work on drafting SOPs on how the lockdown can be imposed is being discussed.

“Since last week we have been holding meetings and talking with the opposition.

Discussions were held with the task force.

The decision for 15 days or 21 days of lockdown will be made by today evening or tomorrow.

Shaikh said that the government was adding 5,300 more beds to the health infrastructure, of which 70 percent of beds will have an oxygen supply facility.
