The state government recently issued the notification about the implementation of the 2019 Act in the state and the new compounding fees for various offences came into effect from December 1.

According to an MMVD official, the state government has reduced the compounding fees in case of several offences compared to the fines and penalties defined in the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, which came into effect from September 1, 2019.However, at the time the Maharashtra government was not in favour of penalising traffic rule violators with hefty fines as per the amended Act.

As per the notification, the copy of which is in possession of PTI, the compounding fees is in the range of Rs 200 to Rs 1 lakh for various offences.
