Summary:

Mysuru: Pointing out that the length of the runway at the Mysuru Airport acted as a limiting factor against its use by larger aircraft, Mysuru MP Pratap Simha on Sunday said that work on extending the runway would commence in January.“There is demand for operating flights between Mysuru and Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, and other cities. But, there is a need to increase the length of the runway from the existing 1.7km to 2.7km. “Work on the 10-lane highway between Bengaluru and Mysuru will begin soon. The project was delayed since the airport is next to the railway station and a national highway. Owing to its short length, only small aircraft can be operated on the runway..
