Cesc steps in to boost forest deptrsquos efforts to conserve elephants in Mysuru

Mysuru: The forest department’s zeal in putting in place one safety measure after another to conserve the population of elephants in Karnataka is not too hard to fathom. “This is a project carried out by Cesc, with the assistance of the forest department. Range forest officer will depute personnel to work with Cesc staff to ensure wild animals are not injured when work on this initiative is under way,” he said. Reports of elephants dying after being hit by trains, and heavy road vehicles, indicate the gravity of the situation.Since electrocution is one of the larger threats to elephants, Cesc has decided to step up efforts to reduce the magnitude of this problem. “We have started working in those forests that straddle both Chamarajanagar and Mysuru districts..
