University of Mysore proposes increase in quota for students with disabilities

MYSURU: In a big relief to the students with various disabilities, the University of Mysore (UoM) has decided to increase the reservation for students with various disabilities from the existing 3% to 5% per department/ course.This means from the next academic year the number of seats under this quota will increase from the existing 15 to 30 at the Manasagangotri campus of the UoM. “We want more and more students to join the post-graduation and other courses. “These two major decisions have been taken by the university keeping in mind the importance of bringing the students with various disabilities to the mainstream of the society,” said a university official.According to sources in the academic wing of the university, a proposal in this regard has been sent to the state government for final approval..
