Nagpur: City witnessed its fifth liver transplant on Saturday after a 16-year-old patient’s family donated liver, kidneys and eyes at Amravati’s Radiant Hospital. This was the 19th liver donation from city and the region.The liver transplant was performed at New Era Hospital by Dr Rahul Saxena and Dr Somnath Chatopadhay. One kidney went to Orange City Hospital and Research Institute and the other went to a patient in the Wockhardt Hospital. The organ donation took place on Friday night and the organs reached Nagpur on Saturday morning. The corneas went to Harina Netra Pedhi at Amravati.Amravati’s Radiant Hospital, where the organs were donated at, is a Non Transplant Organ Retrieval Centre (NTORC) and has been doing good work of promotion of organ donation..
