NMC, German city Karlsruhe sign agreement for Smart City projects

Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Karlsruhe, a city in Germany, have executed an agreement for proposed projects under Smart City Mission. Total cost of the project is Rs 3,580 crore, excluding Smart and Safe City project. Known for speedy and sustainable development, Karlsruhe will share its ideas and concepts with the civic body for planning and executing the projects.Deputy mayor Deepraj Pardikar, BSP group leader Mohammed Jamal, executive engineer (projects) Naresh Borkar and general manager of Smart City SPV Rajesh Dupare toured Karlsruhe and completed the agreement formalities between July 11 and 18.The agreement is part of the Central government’s International Urban Co-operation India Project.At Karlsruhe, Borkar and Dupare gave presentation about the NMC’s proposed projects.Smart City SPV Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL), headed by additional chief secretary to CM Praveen Pardeshi and CEO Ramanath Sonawane, has started the process to develop pilot project of Smart City at Pardi, Punapur, Bharatwada and Bhandewadi in East Nagpur.Rs520 crore Smart and Safe City project is nearing completion..
