Three Chandrapur cops jailed for hoarding seized liquor

It is the first instance of cops being convicted in illegal liquor case in dry district of Chandrapur. Chandrapur: JMFC court in Rajura has convicted three policemen for hoarding liquor illegally and sentenced them to three years of jail term on Saturday. JMFC Vinay Mendhe has also slapped a fine of Rs25,000 on the trio.Three cops, Vijay Uike, Ramesh Atram and Hemant Bawne of Rajura police had seized illegal liquor worth Rs6,150 at Lakkadkot, the last village on Maharahstra Telangana border along the highway, on August 27, 2015. The trio, however, did not deposit the liquor with the police station and instead kept it at a quarter in police residential colony in Rajura.Following a tip-off to superintendent of police by neighbours of the trio, senior officers raided the quarters and recovered the liquor..
