NUTA’s Demand Day protest receives good response

The teachers reported to work wearing black ribbons to mark their protest.The protest was carried under the statewide call given by Maharashtra Federation of University and College Teachers Organisation (MFUCTO). The federation has threatened to go on an indefinite cease work protest from September 25 if the state government fails to fulfil their demands till then.The NUTA members from popular city colleges and those working at district places extended good support to the Demand Day. Nagpur: Hundreds of members under the Nagpur University Teachers Association ( NUTA ) on Monday observed ‘Demand Day’ to mark their protest against the state government over long pending demands regarding revised pay norms, grievances, high-handedness of private college managements and amendment in employment norms. Photographs of teachers from several colleges also went viral on social media.Among the several demands are immediate implementation of 7th pay revision of salary for sections of university and college teachers in the state, well-regulated salary scheme at unaided colleges as per SC order, equal pay for equal work, grievance redressal mechanism to be set up by state government and cut in nominations in the management councils of universities.Teachers from Sheshrao Wankhede College, Mohpa, SN Mor College at Tumsar, Dayanand Arya Kanya, Shivaji Science College, SM Mohta Science College, Nagar Parishad Shivaji College at Mowad, Matoshri Aajnabai Mundafale College of Social Work at Narkhed, MB Patel College at Deori and Nabira Mahavidyalaya at Katol were among those who took part in the protest..
