Prolonged diabetes causes sexual dysfunction in both men and women: Study

Both result in ED.The study (comprising 264 women) showed female sexual dysfunction (FSD) in 49.3% in pre-menopausal women while FSD in post-menopausal women was recorded at 97%. The effect could be as high as 85% in males who may suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED). The prevalence of FSD was found to be associated along with diabetes with age, obesity, duration of diabetes and hyper-glycemia. This effect ranges from 50% in pre-menopausal women to 80% in post-menopausal women.Dr Sunil Gupta, diabetologist, says couples in general, especially men, do not want to discuss their sex life with doctors.
