One Maoist cadre killed in encounter

Nagpur: Body of an unidentified Maoist cadre was recovered from Kobandpar-Guriyaldand forest in Kurkheda taluka in north Gadchiroli on Tuesday. Police have also recovered a rifle, some literature and material from the spot of encounter.The latest encounter killing of a Maoist cadre took place in Gadchiroli after April this year when police had got mired in controversies following their claims of unprecedented success in neutralizing 40 rebels in back-to-back operations at Kasnasur and Nainer.C-60 commandos and an outfit of the banned Maoist formation, likely to be Korchi Dalam, had a confrontation in the forest which is located under the limits of Malewada Armed Out post (AOP). Police said the Maoists had camped at the place during their movement across the region when the commandos zeroed down upon the rebels following a tip off.It was during a search, after the Maoists had retreated, the body of the cadre came to be spotted.Superintendent of police, Gadchiroli, Shailesh Balkawade, said the process of identification of the deceased would start after the body is brought to the headquarters..
