Kalidas Samaroh to feature top women artistes

Nagpur: A prestigious cultural event of the region, Kalidas Samaroh this year will be held in the city from November 27 to 29 and will feature renowned women artistes from the field of vocal, instrumental music and classical dance. The renowned instrumentalist of Hindustani classical music, Shankar plays the gayaki ang of violin. She has given performances across the world and was awarded Padma Shree in 2009.The second performance will be of Kaushiki Chakraborty, daughter of classical music maestro Pt Ajoy Chakraborty. The festival will conclude with a classical vocal performance by veteran singer Begum Parveen Sultana of Patiala gharana.Kalidas Samaroh is organized by MTDC in collaboration with the district administration. The programmes will begin at 6.30pm.Giving details of the event, divisional commissioner Sanjay Kumar told media on Thursday that this year the theme of the festival will be ‘Voice of Indian Women’..
