RPF warns Diwali vacationers against procuring e-tickets illegally

Nagpur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials have issued a warning to Diwali vacationers or travellers against procuring e-tickets through agents, including license-holders, through unauthorized means. On Friday, 13 such tickets were cancelled and their amounts have been forfeited too.In a first, the RPF on Friday conducted sweeping raids across the country targeting agents preparing e-tickets through illegitimate means. The raids were kicked off following an order of director general of RPF Arun Kumar who had launched a nationwide crackdown operation against agents preparing e-tickets in bulk using illegal means, naming the action as ‘Mission Tatkal’. “Whether a bona fide agent or an unauthorized one, it is absolutely illegal to purchase bulk tickets using multiple fake IDs,” said Satija.DSC, SECR, Pandey said the raids would continue so passengers are advised to avoid illegally procured e-tickets.This year, RPF has registered has busted around 20 cases of e-tickets being prepared adopting unfair means and arrested 23 agents. Around 14 live tickets, including one on which the journey had already started, worth Rs14,284, were seized.Another 72 tickets and computers, printer, mobile phone and cash around Rs33,940 were also seized.Satija said 13 tickets were cancelled and their net values have been seized too..
