Liquor mafia kingpin Shahzad held in PSI murder case

Nagpur: Chandrapur police team with the help of local cops on Saturday nabbed liquor mafia kingpin Shahzad Shaikh and five others on Chhattisgarh-Jharkhand border in connection with the murder of police sub-inspector (PSI) Chhatrapati Chide. Sources in Chandrapur police said Shahzad and his accomplices were frequently shifting from one place to another in Chhattisgarh, especially through Maoist-affected regions. The PSI was crushed under the wheels of an SUV ferrying illegal liquor on Maushi-Chorgaon Road near Nagbhid on November 6.The latest arrests took the number of accused in custody to 11 so far. Five of the accused who were arrested on Friday were produced before the court on Saturday. He had started ferrying liquor consignments supplied from Advani Dabha on Nagpur-Chandrapur Highway.On November 6, Shahzad’s driver Chhotu Bangali was heading towards Brahmapuri and Sindewahi to deliver the consignments when Chide tried to intercept the vehicle..
