Police claim tribals opposed Maoists’ ‘PLGA Week’

The arson had led to the loss of around Rs3.5 crore apart from halting the ongoing road construction work.Police have claimed that the tribal population at Kotmi and Kasnasur, which are known as highly sensitive combat zones with Maoists having considerable presence and influence, had opposed the rebels during the week.In an earlier claim, police had stated the tribal population of Kasnasur village had set an effigy on fire symbolizing it as the Maoist leadership. Nagpur: Gadchiroli police , in a press release, have claimed that the tribal population in the Maoist-affected district had spontaneously opposed the rebel-led ‘Peoples’ Liberation of Guerilla Army’ Week between December 2 and 8 which concluded on Saturday.The Maoists observe this period by conducting meetings in hamlets, paying obeisance to their martyrs and also raising awareness about their party Communist Party of India ( Maoist ) which is currently banned.The rebels in Gadchiroli had kicked-started the special weeklong programme by setting around 16 vehicles on fire at Etapalli taluka..
