Appointing teachers is our right, say school trustees

Nagpur | Monday | 10th December, 2018

Summary:

Nagpur: The actual appointment of excess teachers in some private aided schools may run into legal hurdles as trustees say they reserve the right to ‘hire’ staff.Excess teachers in Nagpur are being ‘absorbed’ in schools where vacancy exists. Since excess teachers are technically without work and on full salary, the education department decided to shift them to schools where vacancy exists. The department tries to shift teachers to geographically closest school within city or taluka. Vacancy is created in schools due to teachers retiring or student strength increasing. And if even then a suitable position is not found, then the teacher is liable to be transferred anywhere in the state. If no position exists, then the teacher can be transferred anywhere within the district..
