Nagpur duo threatening witnesses nabbed outside district court

Nagpur: Lakadganj police nabbed two persons, identified as Rajesh Meshram and Kapil Maskare, after laying a trap outside the district court at Nyay Mandir premises on Thursday for allegedly threatening witnesses in cases of serious offences, including murder.Police said Meshram and Maskare possessed lists of witnesses in trials underway before the different sessions court judges. The lists also had mobile phone numbers of the witnesses whom the duo would persuade to turn hostile.It’s not clear how and from where the duo obtained the lists. Sources in the police department said some gangsters are taking hefty amounts to threaten witnesses. Cops are trying to zero in on the source.This is the first time that such organized racket has come to fore.
