Rs1,000 cr solar project to power 1.30L street lights, NMC buildings

Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is all set to execute a Rs1,000 crore solar project to power 1.30 lakh street lights, buildings and some parts of water and sewage treatment plants, followed by operation and maintenance for 20 years. Thus, solar panels will be visible along all roads across the city.The NMC is already operating its Suresh Bhat auditorium, main administrative building, and four zone offices on solar power. The height of street lights is around 8-10 meter. The official said it is not possible to convert entire consumption of plants into solar as they have huge consumption.
