Unemployment driving Kashmir youths in wrong direction: Kashmir VC

Nagpur: Talat Ahmad, vice chancellor of Kashmir University, on Saturday said here that generally Kashmiris are peace-loving people and they don’t appreciate any kind of violence but unemployment is driving some in wrong direction. He also said that Kashmiris students shouldn’t be isolated.Speaking to TOI on the sidelines of Nagpur University’s postgraduate department of geology’s seminar at Vanamati Hall, the Srinagar-based VC said youths in the Valley are bright and research-oriented students. The problem is only with individual groups who are responsible for Pulwama-type episodes,” he said. He was commenting in the aftermath of the recent Pulwama terror attack on CRPF troops. “They are career-oriented people but employment issues drive them in wrong direction,” he said.A geologist himself, Ahmad said the atmosphere is conducive on the campus where 6,000 Kashmiris are enrolled while 1.5 lakh students are studying in affiliated colleges spread across the northern state..
