NU sets up 7-member panel over PhD ‘flaws’

This has created an artificial shortage of enough seats as many colleges are not research centres while many recognized colleges don’t have guides. Bhoyar suggested that a panel must be formed to look into the issues raised by the members regarding PhD.Following the discussion, the VC formed a seven-member panel led by Bhoyar. Earlier, a guide was allowed to enrol scholar from any recognized college under the university.Ajiet Jachak said the new norms were implemented with retrospective effect which can’t be done. The UGC guidelines came in 2009. Jachak, Omprakash Chimmankar, Mrutyunjay Singh, NM Deshkar, Nitin Kongre and Urmila Dabir are the other members.However, when the VC set terms of reference for the committee, Chimmankar slammed him for ‘handcuffing’ the committee..
