Nagpur: The detection branch of Nandanvan police on Saturday arrested an MD drug dealer and cricket bookie for thrashing and robbing a police ‘informer’ after a trap went wrong on Monday.Madhu Singhal alias Agrawal (42) was arrested from a lodge in Saoner in a robbery and attempt to murder case. Gaiki then went to bring the remaining cash.In the meantime, Agrawal received a call from a person and took Gaiki to his office in Wathoda area on the pretext of another work.Agrawal, along with five others, then thrashed Gaiki, who is currently undergoing treatement at Government Medical College and Hospital. He had allegedly thrashed Ashish Gaiki, who has claimed to be a police informer.Addressing a press conference in the city, zonal DCP Raj Tilak Roushan said, “There are several aspects in the case which need to be verified, including the verification of Gaiki as a police informer.”Gaiki claimed in his report that on Monday, he, along with a policeman, approached Agrawal to buy 100gm of MD drug as a part of anti-narcotics cell’s trap..
