Maha: Injured tiger attacks couple in Nagpur; tranquilised

Nagpur, Jan 25 (PTI) An injured tiger was tranquilised and captured by the forest department after it attacked a couple in the Paoni forest range in Maharashtra"s Nagpur district on Tuesday, an official said.

The forest department received information that a big cat had attacked a couple on the road in the forest range, following which a team was sent to the spot, said Bharat Singh Hada, deputy conservator of forest (DCF) Nagpur.

The couple suffered minor injuries in the attack and is stable, he said.

He said the tiger attacked the couple, as it was injured.

There were injuries on the big cat"s legs and he was unable to walk properly, Hada said, adding that the animal was tranquilised and was being brought to Nagpur.

The forest team will investigate how the tiger got injured, the official said.
