Summary:

Nagpur: A tall dome, stone cladding and carvings, three-carved pillars, porch on east and west side will give a new look to the over 40-year-old Shri Ganesh Tekdi Temple, which has been inspired by the Swaminarayan temple. The existing structure was constructed in 1975. "When we got a structural audit done in 2015 by PT Masey and Associates, it said that the temple will not last for more than two-and-a-half years," said SB Kulkarni, one of the trustees of Tekdi temple. A tin shed was put up in 1936 over the idol and around the peepal tree which stands above it," Kulkarni said. "The deity is swayambhu and emerged from under the ground when this hillock was blown by dynamite during the construction of Nagpur railway station. "Though an application was made to the charity commissioner's office to obtain permission to reconstruct the temple, it has still not come," he said, adding that subsequently a city businessman appealed to the court to grant permission for reconstruction as the structure had become dangerous. The temple has celebrities, actors, and sportspersons in its list of devotees..
