Nashik Municipal Corporation issues alert for low lying areas followng heavy downpour

NASHIK: The Nashik Municipal Corporation has issued an alert for residents of low lying areas following continued heavy rains in the city and discharge of over 3,000 cusecs of water from Gangapur dam Godavari River near Ramkund has further swollen and with more water discharge from Gangapur dam on the anvil, it could inundate the low lying areas. There is water even below the building of Purohit Sangh due to which pooja is not being performed there. 10 am to 12 noon on Monday , 3,000 cusecs of water was released from Gangapur dam and it was expected that more would be released. Hence, at present there is 8,000 cusecs of water in the river,” Mahajan said..
