Ever since work for the smart road was initiated on the stretch between Meher Signal and CBS signal, the adjacent road has been thrown open to two-way traffic leading to continuous traffic congestion. The police had also made arrangements for the two-way traffic by dividing the road with traffic cones.Assistant commissioner of police Ajay Deore said that due to work for the smart road project the road from CBS to Meher Signal was converted to two-way traffic. However, this is lead to traffic congestion on the road for most of the day, till late into the evening.Deore said, “On Tuesday and Wednesday, we experimented by opening the road from RK to Red Cross Signal to two-way traffic to check if traffic eases on the road in front of the district collectorate. Hence it has been decided to discontinue with the two-way system between RK and Red Cross Signal.”He added that the police will come to a proper decision about vehicular traffic, after speaking to heads of other departments.
