Nashik: The chief engineer-level meeting of the North Maharashtra Region (NMR) and the National Water Development Authority (NWDA) has decided to include the cost of solar power projects in the river linking projects taken up by the central government.Chief engineers Kishor Kulkarni of the NMR and RK Jain of the NWDA met here on Monday to iron out the issues in preparing the detailed project report for the Gargai-Vaitarna and Damanganga-Ekdare links.MP Hemant Godse pressed for including the cost of solar power system to be raised on the open canals in the project cost. “It is this system which will generate power and compensate for the power required to lift water from the west flowing rivers,” Godse said.Engineer Rajendra Jadhav, an expert on the issue and advisor to Godse, sought extension of the main pipeline and distribution system to Bhojapur canal.
