Summary:

NASHIK: The civic body has extended the deadline to December end for owners of illegal structures to submit applications to regularise them. "We will start the process of regularisation from January next year as it will take a long time to complete the process. But, it had received only 66 applications till April 30 this year.In May, when the NMC made it clear that it would not extend the deadline, a section of builders, developers and property owners hurriedly applied for regularising the structures. The officials said that since the process of regularisation is a long and cumbersome exercise, they would not entertain any application after the deadline. In June, the state government has directed the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) to complete the process by February 2020. We will ensure that the process is completed by the deadline set by the government," an official said. The city has around 7,000 illegal constructions and so far the civic body has received about 3,000 applications for regularisation. The state government had issued a resolution on October 7 last year, stating that unauthorised structures that came up before December 31, 2015 can be regularised by paying compounding charges.Accordingly, the NMC had issued a notification on December 1 last year, inviting applications from developers to get unauthorised structures regularised by paying compounding charges..
