This will also be beneficial to students from Igatpuri to travel to and from Nashik and even to and from Kalyan very easily,” the officer said. NASHIK: The Railways has decided to run two rakes of electrical multiple unit (EMU), commonly called local trains, from Kalyan to Nashik and Pune. The rakes for Nashik-bound EMU services that were being planned to be launched by mid-February have been delivered by the Integrated Coach Factory (ICF), Railway officials from the Mumbai division said.“Two rakes have arrived at Kurla Carshed, where auxiliary instruments and some cosmetic fittings are being made. The travel time for the train is expected to be little over 2:30 hours and the Railways plans to begin with two services on a daily basis.“The EMU will definitely be in the best interest of the farmers from Nashik, who can get access to Kalyan market, by loading and unloading the goods through the two parcel/luggage vans. Since the rake has to ascend and descend ghat section between Kasara and Igatpuri, the rakes were fitted with additional numbers of parking brakes to ensure the train stood where it is in case of some defects in the ghat section,” an official said.“A rake for Pune is also likely to arrive in a couple of days with similar specifications,” he said.“The trial runs for the rakes are likely to be carried out in a couple of days before the official launch of the service before,” the officer added.Once the trial runs are conducted, the Railways will fix the time slot for the departure of the train..
