E-compost for Nashik station on the cards

“Since we are now an eco-smart station, it is expected that our teams will deal with everything required and produced on our premises. Nashik: The Railways is planning to install a food waste digester, which is an electronic compost system, at the Nashik Road railway station after it was selected as one of the eco-smart stations in the country.The station comes in A1 category of Bhusawal division on the Central Railway. It has been included in the list of eco-smart stations and the primary objective is to treat the biodegradable waste generated on the premises.“At present the waste generated in the station is the collected at one place. After cleaning, the system is ready for the next day process,” the official said.The product cost is more than 3.5 lakh and the Railways doesn’t have enough funds at present. From there it is handed over to the municipal corporation’s garbage van, which takes the further required action..
