Four women candidates get BJP tickets in north Maharashtra

Nashik: The BJP has fielded more number of women candidates from North Maharashtra in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls as compared to the 2014 general elections.Of the eight seats spread across five districts in North Maharashtra, the BJP is contesting on six seats while the remaining two seats are with its ally Shiv Sena. They felt that such positive gestures by the party would encourage more women to join politics.“By giving tickets to four women candidates in North Maharashtra the party leadership has sent a loud message that women are equally capable to fight big elections. We already have two women ministers who are ably managing the country’s defence and external affairs ministries. This will naturally inspire more women to come forward to join politics,” she said..
