Officials from MaharashtraGujarat border districts discuss joint vigil

NASHIK: The officials of three districts of Maharashtra Nashik , Dhule and Nandurbar) and two districts of Gujarat (Dang and Nausari) have decided to step up vigil in the run up to the general elections.The decision was taken during a meeting of the officials of these districts, which share a common border, in Dhule on Friday. On the flow of cash and liquor, the officer said that people or candidates are not allowed to keep liquid cash of more than Rs 10,000. Nashik district collector Suraj Mandhare, his Dhule counterpart Rahul Rekhavar and top police officers of the five districts attended the meeting.“The coordination meeting was held to ensure law and order and free and fair elections in the districts. The officials decided to exchange information on externed criminals and keeping a track on them so that they don’t create disturbances anywhere,” said Mandhare.Representatives from the state excise and income tax departments were also present in the meeting. “A special eye would be kept on workers of parties and candidates to prevent them from transporting cash or liquor,” said the officer.“The stress is on intelligence-sharing to block the chances of such things flowing across the Maharashtra,” said Mandhare..
