The power shut down has been ordered in the areas near canals to ensure the water cannot be lifted using three-phase power pumps.The villagers along the canal will receive single phase power so that their daily routine is not disturbed.“Three-phase will be available for a certain time only to allow them to lift water for filling the tanks to provide drinking water for cattle, etc,” another senior official said.The administration has urged the people to use water judiciously given the drought and shortage of water in the dams.
