Gokulnath 1st Indian to finish solo Race Across America

NASHIK: Col Dr Srinivas Gokulnath of Nashik became the first Indian to complete solo Race Across America (RAAM) cycle race of 5,000 kms on Sunday.Srinivas, 37, completed the toughest cycle race in the world in 11 days and 11 hours in the 18-49 age category. "We are really proud of Srinivas Gokulnath," said cyclist and medical practitioner Manisha Raundal. The time given was 12 days to complete the race, that is 13 hours earlier than the scheduled time. He had failed in his first attempt in 2016.Srinivas said he attempted the race with a mission for cancer prevention. The race concluded at Odenton.A medical officer with the Artillery Centre Nashik Road, Srinivas completed the race from West coast to East coast of the US in his second attempt..
