A major fire incident took place at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida where ‘The Auto Expo 2018’ is underway. At least 4 cars have been gutted in the fire incident.
A major fire engulfed handful of cars including the Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i10 at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018.
The largest get-together of auto makers in India – today was the first day for public at the Auto Expo.
The fire broke not at the main venue, but at one of the parking lots near the venue.
Meanwhile, as soon the information of fire incident broke out, the fire brigade officials have swung to action and doused the flames. The prompt action by fire officials has minimized the damages as over 6,000 cars were parked where the incident took place.
Situated a few hundred metres from the main venue, the makeshift parking lot was kept for cars of exhibitors and media.
It was around 4 PM when the cars caught fire, and the reason of fire is still unclear.
Even though, the Noida Fire Department was quick enough to extinguish the fire, saving thousands of other vehicles standing in the parking area, they couldn`t save 4-5 cars from where the initial fire started.
It is being predicted that the fire could have started via the haystack on the ground as somebody must have dropped a cigarette butt on the dry stack.
The parking lot is not a concrete facility, but an open ground covered by dust and haystack.
Meanwhile, the incident has raised serious question against the management. How a fire incident can take place at one of the biggest Auto fairs-‘The Auto Expo 2018’.
