NTPC to get treated water for cooling

Noida: An MoU was signed between NTPC Dadri and the Noida Authority on Friday for supply of 80 MLD treated sewage water to NTPC power plant in Dadri. The treated water will be used for cooling condensers of two electricity producing units of 980MW at the Dadri plant.The MoU was signed to comply with the tariff policy amendment of the power ministry, dated January 28, 2016.“The policy stipulates mandatory use of treated sewage water from Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of a municipal body for thermal power plant located within 50km radius of STP,” said Srivastava, adding the project is expected to be completed in three years.The project entails laying of 35km pipeline from Noida STP for pumping of secondary treated sewage water to NTPC Dadri for further tertiary treatment.Following the MoU, the Noida STP will become financially independent..
