‘Friend’ plotted robbery of cloth trader with two others, arrested

GREATER NOIDA: A friend of a trader , who was robbed of his scooter and Rs 3.5 lakh in cash on September 4, was arrested for allegedly plotting the robbery . While Abhay and an accomplice were picked up Sunday, a third accused is untraceable.Both Abhay and Anshul own textile showrooms. Police said Abhay had befriended Anshul to rob him as he knew that the victim regularly carried lakhs of rupees. Police said Abhay Tomar, a resident of Gandhi Nagar in Delhi, was riding pillion on the scooter of Anshul Jain, who lives in Geeta Colony, when the latter was robbed. “Police started suspecting Abhay after they were told that Anshul had kept Rs 3.5 lakh in the boot of his scooter and none of the two robbers had asked for the money, but took away the scooter,” said Amit Kumar Singh, the SHO of Sector 39 police station..
