NOIDA: The transport department on Sunday suspended the driving licences of five vehicle owners for three months and released a video identifying them. Tiwari said the only way now to check for traffic violations is to scan the registration number of the vehicle. Anurag Kulshrestha, president of Road Safety NGO — TRAX — said the penalty for traffic violations in India is lower compared to that in foreign countries.“Most violators here do not have a sense of punishment. “There is no mechanism at present to check for violations using driving licences. We will take necessary action if someone approaches us and complains that their licences were unduly cancelled,” he said..
