Summary:

However, the traffic police is not ready for that as they do not have ample force to deploy on the lights. The U-turns were proving farther for the commuters. We have to see what is best for the commuters keeping technicalities in mind and not just hit and trial,” Garg said.He said that the Authority will ask the consultant to visit the site and then discuss what the best solution for the problem can be. This situation can be eased if both sides are permanently closed and u-turns are provided on the opposite sides,” he said. The Noida Authority officials however said that the consultant has advised changes in a “phased manner” and use of red lights instead.“The consultant has said that rather closing cuts, we can install traffic lights on each of the roads linking the roundabout on all four sides. NOIDA: With the authorities failing to tackle the increasing volume of traffic at Parthala roundabout , the traffic police is planning yet another experiment at the roundabout suggesting the Noida Authority to make u-turns at the FNG connecting the roundabout with Chhijarsi and Sector 122.The move comes after a commuter approached the UP DGP and senior officials of the Noida Authority complaining about the failure of the previous experiments and the increase in congestion due to the latest one.The traffic police had first closed two sides of the roundabout in August when commuters travelling from Sector 71 intersection were not being allowed to travel straight towards the Gaur intersection and those headed towards Gaur intersection from Sector 122/Phase II were not being allowed to take a right towards the intersection. They were being asked to travel straight towards Sector 71 from where they can travel towards Gaur intersection. However, as the diversion led to snarls on the Parthala road, the force removed the diversion from one side.Soon after, a portion of the roundabout joining the road from Chhijarsi to Sector 122 was closed by the traffic police, removing the previous diversions completely. However, the diversion was of little respite to those headed towards Ghaziabad from Sector 71 and Chhijarsi who would get stuck at the roundabout during the peak hours. In September, the Noida Authority widened the roundabout by carving out another lane joining the roundabout under the foot over-bridge towards the Ghaziabad route at the behest of the traffic police. In their latest diversion, on November 15, the traffic police closed one more portion of the roundabout for commuters travelling from Sectors 118, 119, 115, 122, etc towards Chhijarsi. This, even as the portion of the roundabout joining Chhijarsi with Sector 122 was already closed. In his complaint dated November 15, the commuter has said that due to the planning of the traffic police, the traffic situation has worsened.“With today’s closure of roundabout, a long jam has been created,” reads the complaint sent via email. The complaint by a resident of Sector 121 was marked to the Noida Authority’s ACEO RK Mishra, SSP Gautam Budh Nagar Ajay Pal Sharma and UP police DGP OP Singh.PK Garg, Noida Authority’s project engineer for work circle 4 told TOI that the complaint has come to the notice of the senior authority officials.Garg along with a consultant of the Noida Authority met the SP (traffic) Anil Jha at the Sector 14 A office on Tuesday where they discussed a possible situation for the problem.Jha suggested that the portions of the roundabout directly connecting the FNG with Chhijarsi and Sector 122 be closed and two u-turns be created a few meters ahead of both sides of the roundabout.“The problem had arised because of the extra cuts on the road linking the Parthala roundabout with the Balak Nath Mandir..
