Greater Noida: CBI books 2 of its officers for taking Rs 10 lakh bribe from land scam accused

Singh has been shown as absconding in police records.The Rs 126-crore land scam dates back to 2013, when then YEIDA CEO PC Gupta had approved the purchase of 58 hectares in Mathura though the land had no utility. After a few hours, Sharma was transferred to the police headquarters in Lucknow, which the police termed a routine administrative shuffle.Earlier in the day, around 11am, a team of six CBI officers raided the house of former tehsildar Singh, an accused in the YEIDA land scam, and searched for around four hours. It also mentioned Ranveer Singh, a former YEIDA tehsildar who allegedly paid the Rs 10 lakh bribe, and unnamed police officers.On Sunday evening, the investigating agency summoned circle officer Nishank Sharma, who had been probing the land scam before it was transferred to the CBI last year, to its headquarters in Delhi for questioning. The CBI said Singh had agreed to pay Rs 20 lakh to the two officers on Saturday.The accused have been booked under Section 120 B (whoever is a party to a criminal conspiracy to commit an offence) of the IPC along with sections 7, 7A and 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act..
