Swachh Survekshan: Delayed certification, late initiatives led to low marks

Noida | Thursday | 7th March, 2019

Summary:

“They had given the sanitation work to some RWAs but later revoked the plan, succumbing to sanitation workers’ pressure. NOIDA: The Centre’s Swachh Survekshan ranking on Wednesday revealed a drastic gap between the two neighbouring cities — Ghaziabad and Noida, bagging 13 and 150 positions, respectively. The ranking process is divided into four segments — service level progress (SLP), certification, direct observation and citizens’ feedback, each having 1,250 marks. NP Singh, FONRWA president, said the Authority-employed sanitation workers “do not work properly and thus the city continues to remain littered”. This year, we scored well in citizens’ feedback and direct observation parameters, which showed we had done significant work towards achieving the goals.”.
